Genocide Documentation
The only way to deny Israel’s genocide in Gaza is by ignoring the facts.
Lee Mordechai, an Israeli historian, has created an extensive and methodical database documenting war crimes committed by Israeli forces in Gaza since the escalation of violence in October 2023.
His report, Bearing Witness to the Israel-Gaza War, is a comprehensive compilation of over 129 pages and 1,400 footnotes supported by a variety of evidence such as eyewitness testimonies, videos, photographs, and reports from Israeli soldiers themselves. Mordechai’s findings suggest that Israeli actions in Gaza amount to genocide, offering a stark counter-narrative to the widely circulated justifications for military operations.
The repincludes horrifying accounts of atrocities, including the deliberate targeting of civilians and the torture of prisoners. Among the incidents documented are the shooting of a woman holding a white flag, airstrikes on people trying to help the wounded, and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. Mordechai argues that these actions fall within the legal definition of genocide, particularly due to the systematic nature of the killings and the broader tactics designed to destroy the Palestinian population.
Additionally, Mordechai criticizes the role of global media in shaping the narrative surrounding the conflict, claiming that propaganda has facilitated the violence by presenting Israel's actions as defensive rather than genocidal. Through his meticulous research, Mordechai confronts the truth about the ongoing war in Gaza. By documenting these crimes in such painstaking detail, Mordechai challenges us all to take responsibility for the consequences of our inaction and complicity in the face of undeniable evidence.
