Documenting the Cost of Conflict
Airwars report reveals the devastating civilian impact of military operations in Gaza.
The Gaza: Patterns of Harm report by Airwars examines the devastating impact of the first week of the 2023 Gaza conflict on civilians. I came across this report through a vlog by journalist Owen Jones, who highlighted its significance. His video (linked below) inspired me to delve deeper, and I thank him for this. He has also written about it here, highly recomended reading.
The report draws on survivor testimonies, casualty records, and infrastructure damage analysis to expose widespread harm. Civilian areas like homes and healthcare facilities were severely affected, with long-term repercussions on Gaza’s residents. Airwars raises serious questions about compliance with international law, including the failure to protect civilians adequately.
While only focusing on the conflict's initial stages, the report provides crucial insights for seeing the whole conflict, and urges stronger accountability mechanisms to prevent future harm.
